I say that because they are my family. Josh and I are cousins. So he and I, along with his wonderful wife, Bridgett, their son (little) Josh and daughter Autumn all set out for Waid Park in Rocky Mount, Virginia for some good, old-fashioned family fun. And photos.
It was tough to nail down a date for our session because the Bryants are a very busy family. “Who isn’t?” you might say. But these folks know busy. Between the kids’ activities and mom and dad’s jobs, it took us a while to find the time. But patience pays off! We picked our weekend and started talking about locations. Josh really liked Waid Park and it was just the right time of year to avoid any sporting events. I had never been there before but it’s really pretty! Besides all of the sports fields, there are plenty of wooded areas and trails to enjoy. So that’s what we did! We basically took a nature hike while I occasionally stopped everyone and took a few photos. I’m pretty sure I saw bear tracks on the trail at one point, and it was everything I could do not to turn our outing into a nature jog, but I held it together and kept my cool.
This whole family is so laid back they made my job seem easy. Apart from being related, Josh and I also share some common interests and since it had been a while since I’d seen him, we spent some time catching up during our session. One thing that surprised me was little Josh’s bright red hair! I absolutely loved it! Mostly because my hair looked eerily similar when I was his age! He and I discussed the finer points of having primary-colored hair and I shared a story or two from my past. Little Autumn was interested in everything! She was so fun to talk to! And as cute as a button. When she wasn’t hugging her mom or dad, she was posing for me or exploring the area or just having fun.
I truly enjoy what I do for a living but it’s even nicer when I am able to share it with family!
